In case you don’t know, I love baseball. I love the strategy, the situational awareness. I love the small bursts of excitement followed by anticipation for the next big play. I love that baseball means spring is here and summertime is around the corner. I love my wife a little more for loving baseball too.
During the winter, however, I have to put baseball out of my mind. It only saddens me to think that I won’t hear the crack of the bat for months. To protect myself from the bitter cold of a baseball-less winter, I put my baseball mind in a state of rest.
But now, with opening day only two weeks away, I emerge from my dugout hibernation. Bears awaken to the sounds of birds chirping and bees buzzing. I awaken to “Centerfield,” by John Fogerty: the ultimate baseball anthem.

I didn’t know you were that much of a baseball fan – you should see some of our over 25 men’s league games after I’m back from my injuries. It’s not the best baseball you’ll ever see, but you might enjoy it and we play some of our games within a mile of your studio…
That song and ‘Walk of Life’ by Dire Straits always make me think of the game and growing up playing it in Florida. It’s a great track.
Maybe I will! I played baseball through high school. Loved it!
